How I Find Sturdiness In The Mess

daily joy ritual

There was a time in my life when I felt like I was constantly being pulled in a hundred directions. On the outside, I looked like I was holding it all together. Inside, I was scattered, drained, and quietly unravelling.

If you’ve ever felt exhausted from “managing it all” while secretly craving relief, you’re not alone.

The turning point for me wasn’t about finally getting everything under control. It wasn’t about perfection or some picture-perfect version of life. It came when I gave myself permission to pause. To breathe. To create small, sustainable rituals of Joy that grounded me in the midst of the mess.

That was my first real taste of sturdiness. Not control. Not rigidity. But a steadiness that allowed me to meet life with more grace.

Grounding isn’t about eliminating the chaos. It’s about cultivating inner steadiness so you can walk through it with strength, clarity and even Joy.

Why Grounding Isn’t About Perfection

We live in a culture that tells us to “fix” ourselves, organize everything, and strive for flawless routines. But the truth? Life will always throw curveballs.

Grounding isn’t about a spotless house, or a colour-coded calendar.

It’s about finding your center when the world around you feels shaky. It’s about returning, again and again, to practices that anchor you, even if they’re small. Especially if they’re small.

When I discovered that my grounding could be as simple as drinking lemon water before coffee, stepping outside for a deep breath of fresh air, or journaling for five minutes, everything shifted.

Because those small, intentional acts reminded me that I matter. My energy matters. My Joy matters!!

The Power Of Daily Joy Rituals

I still practice Joy everyday. Not because life magically becomes smooth, but because life does what life does, it ebbs, flows and sometimes explodes.

Joy is not a one-and-done. It’s a way of living.

A Daily Joy Ritual isn’t about overhauling your life overnight. It’s about creating something doable, meaningful, and supportive. A rhythm that helps you feel rooted, even when things get messy.

Here are some simple ways to start your own Daily Joy Ritual:

  • A moment of stillness. Try five minutes of meditation or deep breathing before diving into the day.
  • Nourishment first. Take your vitamins and hydrate before reaching for coffee.
  • Connect with nature. Step outside, feel the ground beneath your feet, and let fresh air reset your nervous system.
  • Gratitude practice. Write down three things you’re thankful for. Watch how it shifts your perspective.
  • Movement as medicine. Gentle stretches, a walk, or dancing in your kitchen counts.

The key is to start small, keep it simple, and honour yourself by showing up.

A Gentle Challenge

If you’ve been feeling wobbly or yanked around by life, I see you. I’ve been there. And here’s my gentle challenge to you:

Commit to one small, inspired action each morning this week.

It doesn’t need to be complicated or time-consuming. It just needs to be intentional.
Ask yourself: What’s one thing I can do today to feel more grounded, more supported, more Joyful?

Then do it. And celebrate yourself for choosing you. Because every small action adds up to big shifts over time.
