Your Joy Isn’t Gone, It’s Just Been Covered Over
There’s a common belief that Joy is something we lose.
That somewhere along the way, life gets busy, responsibilities take over, and Joy slowly fades into the background.
But most of the time, that’s not actually what’s happening.
Your Joy hasn’t disappeared, it’s likely just been covered over.
By the pace of your life. And all the stuff and things and pressure you carry.
By the constant focus on what needs to get done.
And when that becomes your normal, Joy can start to feel distant.
Not because it’s gone. But because you’re no longer noticing it.
This is where the shift begins.
Not in trying to become more Joyful, but in reconnecting with what’s already there.
Because Joy often shows up in small, quiet ways.
A moment where your body relaxes.
A breath that feels deeper than usual.
A conversation where you feel like yourself again.
These moments are easy to overlook.
But they matter because they are signals.
They show you that your natural state is still accessible.
And the more you begin to notice them, the more they expand.
This isn’t about forcing anything. It’s about allowing yourself to feel what’s already present.
Allowing yourself to slow down enough to notice it.
Because Joy doesn’t return through effort.
It returns through awareness.
So a simple place to begin is this:
Where are you already experiencing moments of Joy that you’ve been moving past too quickly?
And what would it look like to stay with those moments just a little longer?
That’s where things start to change.
